In November 2025, Islandman — the Istanbul trio that folds Anatolian psychedelia into ambient textures and dancefloor energy — played Japan for the first time: seven shows across Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka and Yokohama, at venues including Shibuya Cyclone, UrBANGUILD and Conpass.
A sound that had never been here
Anatolian psychedelia has a long memory — saz lines, modal melodies, rhythms that pull sideways rather than forward. Islandman plays it through synths and a live kit, so it lands on a club floor as easily as at a festival. Japan had not heard it live. For seven nights, it did.
Five cities in a row
A first tour tests two things at once: whether the music travels, and whether the people around it do their work quietly enough that the band only has to play. Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, Yokohama — different rooms, different crowds, the same set finding a different edge each night.
